“Buy the truth and sell it not.”

A Review of Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus, by Nabeel Qureshi, published by Zondervan, 2014.

This book illustrates one of Jesus’ parables about a man who found a treasure in a field, and sold everything to buy the field in order to secure the treasure. And that treasure is TRUTH, and that truth is Jesus. “BUY THE TRUTH AND SELL IT NOT”

I gave this book to my husband to read after I had finished it. Both of us had absorbed many Satanic lies in the past through Occult teachings. And we both understood the mind-boggling dilemma of undoing those lies. Nabeel was determined to get to the bottom of the Islamic belief system and traditions, and to evaluate its teachings in contrast to the teachings of Christ and the demands He makes upon our lives. The tearing away of the veil of deceit was very painful to both soul and mind. We could understand his suffering, as we had paid a similar price for our surrender to Jesus, “the way, the truth and the life”.  According to the Koran he would become accursed by Islam if He believed that Jesus was God, and trusted that the Bible was not a corrupted text, but the very Word of God.

This book is important for many reasons: 1) the clear explanation of Muslim traditions and beliefs, 2) remembering how impacted we all were by the 9/11 tragedy, and the picture it painted of Islam, 3) the value of real friendship in sharing our faith, and 4) and knowing how to defend the Christian faith, and being able to give an answer to those who ask challenging questions. We both have benefited by being in this classroom of faith, of relearning the basic tenets of Christianity, and being educated in the tenets of Islam.
